AKG of America received the Caterpillar Award for Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP) Certification at the Bronze level. Caterpillar developed this program to select, evaluate, and certify strategic suppliers. These strategic partners are certified through SQEP by meeting supplier performance standards, such as on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, innovation, and continuous improvement culture measured over a calendar year.

Luca Romano, Vice President of AKG North American Operations, Inc., congratulated AKG on the accomplishment, “What I am most proud of is that we all had to come together, from CAT to our sales engineers, from our customer service to design to IT, from purchasing to quality to production and shipping. We could have not achieved this if even only one of us would have not given their best." AKG is honored to achieve such a distinction from a world-class customer.

“Only about 25% of Caterpillar suppliers achieve SQEP certification so we are very excited to have joined this elite club.” Adam Jury, Global Key Account Manager for Caterpillar explained.  “The Mebane team performs at world class levels day in and day out, so to have this level of performance and dedication recognized by the Caterpillar leadership here today is truly a special moment for us and I am very proud of AKG.”    

The award was presented to the AKG team by Michelle Holiday, Global Engineering and Sourcing Manager for Caterpillar, during a presentation ceremony. She recognized AKG for being a supplier since 1999 as their primary source for cooling needs for the Caterpillar Skid Steer. She estimated 320,000 Caterpillar skid steers had AKG cooling technology throughout the world reaching over 1 million Caterpillar customers.
